All courses are taught by notable Stanford faculty and instructors, experienced professionals, and leaders in their fields. Courses meet each day (Monday–Friday) for live, virtual classroom discussion led by Stanford graduate student teaching assistants. A live class period will be held at both 8:00–9:30am and 4:00–5:30pm PDT, and participants will attend just one of the available meeting times. Most courses meet on Stanford’s campus in the evenings, or on a Saturday. And, for those students who can’t easily make it to campus, we now offer a growing number of online courses across various disciplines.

There are three options open to those course instructors who wish to Psychology majors must complete at least 60 units of course work toward their major at Stanford within the Psychology department. Psychology minors may count no more than a total of 10 units credit from outside the department toward the minor.

Most courses are five to ten weeks long, and weekend workshops are also available. Courses are offered in all four academic quarters: Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer. Due to COVID-19 health concerns, all Continuing Studies courses will be held online for Spring Quarter.

Our short online courses take place in a virtual learning environment. Most courses are 10 weeks in duration and they all run asynchronously – they have no live-time meetings - so you do not have to be online at any specific time to take the course. Philosophy of Friendship *The course will meet for two hours daily (Monday–Friday) for a live class during this window of time. Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies advances the education of academically talented, intellectually curious, pre-college students. Courses in the major equip students with core skills involved in critical reading, analytical thinking, sound argumentation, and the clear, well-organized expression of ideas.

Good intro philosophy courses? Sophomore here looking to take some introductory philosophy class, preferably one that gives AII; I know SLS and the rest of Stanford are closed off to non students due to covid-19 but this is my only opportunity to visit before I apply in the fall. If you have any recommendations or advice for me, please share.
